Teacher of the Year!
We're proud to say that Mrs. Stacy Anzini, one of Chatsworth Park's awesome teachers, was nominated for Teacher of the Year by the Encino Chamber of Commerce on April 20, 2017! Mrs. Anzini was honored due to her perseverance and dedication to providing the best learning experience for every child. She has tailored her instruction to meet the needs of all of her students--English language learners, gifted, special education, and more. Mrs. Anzini has also joined her neighboring teacher, Ms. Kelly Davis, to blend their classes and team-teach, which exposes students to different teaching styles and inspires them to support their fellow Palominos. Chatsworth Park is truly blessed to have Stacy Anzini as a teacher! Congratulations, Mrs. Anzini!! You are amazing!
Twin/Triplet Spirit Day!
Thank you to Mr. Schmerelson!
Our LAUSD Board Member Scott Schmerelson visited Chatsworth Park on Friday, April 7. We are truly thankful for Mr. Schmerelson's support as he has provided new lunch tables, new auditorium wall-fold tables, and a lunch area wind screen. His latest gift will be arriving in the summertime....A brand-new apparatus for our main yard! We can't wait for our Palominos to enjoy the new playground addition, and we are truly grateful for Mr. Schmerelson's support!
A visit from Denmark
On Tuesday, March 28, Chatsworth Park Elementary received a special visit from afar! Three LEGO Education team members from Denmark visited Chatsworth Park to experience LEGO Robotics and elementary science in action. Camilla Bottke, Louise Aagaard, and Mario Volkmann from LEGO Education were delighted to see students implementing LEGO Robotics and applying it to other content areas. The LEGO team also visited the science lab to see elementary science come alive, using the new NGSS standards. It was an exciting day at Chatsworth Park!
Seussical Starry Night!
Starry Night on March 3 was truly a night under the stars to remember! Thank you to our wonderful staff, families, volunteers, the Del Air Rockhounds, and the Local Astronomy Club for a fun-filled and inspirational Starry Night! We are so honored to be supported by such a great community of friends and families.
Read Across America Spirit
Our Palomino students celebrated Read Across America/ Dr. Seuss’s birthday from February 27-March 3, 2017. Read Across America is an annual reading motivation and awareness program that calls for every child in every community to celebrate reading on March 2, the birthday of beloved children's author Dr. Seuss. Chatsworth Park believes so much in the power of reading that we dedicated an entire week full of activities to bring reading excitement to children from grades TK-5th!
School Tours Begin March 7
Know any families who are interested in possibly attending Chatsworth Park next year? If so, school tours start Tuesday, March 7! Every Tuesday at 9:00 a.m., families can receive a guided tour through our special school. Check out our incredible science lab, computer lab, Wonder of Reading library, and arts program! Please help us spread the word that Chatsworth Park is ready for school tours!
Jumping for a Cause!
Thank you to all of our Palomino families and staff who contributed to the American Heart Association during our Jump Rope for the Heart event! Amazingly, we raised $1,577.00 for the cause! Way to go, Team Palomino!
21st Century Learning
Lego Robotics have finally arrived at Chatsworth Park! Our wonderful grade 3-5 teachers experienced quite a treat with a personalized training from Lego Education representatives! With a little more studying and practice, Lego Robotics will soon be in the hands of every grade 3-5 Palomino! These are exciting times at Chatsworth Park!
Be a buddy, not a bully
With the help of ventriloquist Christine Barger and Lowell Edward, our Palominos learned how to be kind and support one another. This anti-bullying assembly was truly informative in a lively way!
Family Reading Night on January 27 was a fun-filled and enriching event for all! Our families enjoyed an evening filled with magical stories and a treat of milk and cookies afterwards!
Our Palominos celebrated Dr. Martin Luther King Junior's birthday with a Spirit Day this past Friday (January 13). Since Dr. King was a true hero, we celebrated the heroes in our students' lives by dressing like superheroes!
Happy Computer Science Education Week!
A night to remember
THANK YOU to our wonderful PTA and Palomino families who contributed to our Trunk or Treat event on October 28. Team Palomino truly united for a fun-filled night of trunks, treats, yummy food, festive music, and bouncing galore. You are all truly appreciated, and we are blessed to have such fantastic families! I’d also like to extend a BIG THANK YOU to our families who attended the grand event! There were so many happy, smiling faces!
Tree Care Day!
Chatsworth Park's "Tree Care Day" on October 22 was a grand success! Volunteers from the TreePeople and our own Palomino families assisted with pulling weeds, turning soil, laying mulch, and watering our new trees (more than 20)! We are truly appreciative our volunteers' time and support! Our campus is all the more beautiful thanks to them!
Kids Are First!
PTA's fall fundraiser "Kids Are First" is well under way! This is the PTA's biggest fundraiser of the year! Our awesome Chatsworth Park PTA has partnered with West Coast Fund Raising ("Kids Are First") to offer catalog and online sales of various items. With delicious popcorn, beautiful wrapping paper, kitchen items, stationary, and much more, the "Kids Are First" fundraiser has it all! Remember, our PTA supports our school with the YMCA psychomotor program, field trips, special events, and more. When you support our PTA, you're supporting the students of Chatsworth Park, and it is appreciated!!
Inspiring Future Authors!
On Tuesday, September 27, our Palominos were treated to a motivational assembly from two children's book authors: Adam T. Newman and Joshua Hauke. Not only did the authors share their witty stories with them, our students were inspired to give 100% to their own writing and let their creativity show!

5th Grade's Headed to Pali!
On May 9-11, our fifth grade headed for a fun-filled field trip to the Pali Institute. Located in the San Bernardino Mountains, our students experienced a once-in-a-lifetime adventure through Pali's outdoor education and science program. They enjoyed team-building exercises and honed their leadership potential while enjoying the outside world around them. The fifth-grade trip to Pali was an experience they will always remember!

It's Tree Planting Day!
TreePeople volunteers and our Palomino community united on Saturday, April 9, 2016, to plant 14 trees at Chatsworth Park. Even though it rained off and on, our volunteers gave their best and successfully planted Mulberry, Palo Verde, and Ash trees. For years to come, our Palominos will enjoy these trees and the shade they provide. A million thanks to the TreePeople volunteers and our Palomino families!

Closed Campus Policy
Beginning Tuesday, January 19, 2016, Chatsworth Park Elementary School, pursuant to district policy, will initiate a Closed Campus Policy. This means that during school hours, our campus is "closed," with all doors and gates locked. This is to ensure the safety of our students. All students should arrive between 7:30 a.m. and 8:00 a.m. Please know that the gates will not open until 7:30 a.m. School staff will be located at two gates—Devonshire Street and Hiawatha Street—to welcome your children and to supervise them on the playground between 7:30 a.m. and 8:00 a.m. Since we will be a "closed campus," parents will no longer be able to accompany their children onto the yard or wait with them until the bell rings.
