Starry night Success!

Starry Night on April 12 was truly a night under the stars to remember!  Thank you to our wonderful staff, families, volunteers, PTA, NASA, the Del Air Rockhounds, and the Local Astronomy Club for a fun-filled and inspirational Starry Night! We are so honored to be supported by such a great community of friends and families.

Let's celebrate reading!

Let's celebrate reading!

Our Palomino students celebrated Read Across America/           Dr. Seuss’s birthday from February 25-March 2, 2019.  Read Across America is an annual reading motivation and awareness program that calls for every child in every community to celebrate reading on March 2, the birthday of beloved children's author Dr. Seuss.  Chatsworth Park believes so much in the power of reading that we dedicated an entire week full of activities to bring reading excitement to children from grades TK-5th!

Let's go Palominos!

We are so thankful for your support with our fundraisers!  Our Palominos are excited about our Color Walk, which is our Walk-A-Thon, and we still have two weeks to go!  We’re definitely moving toward our goal of $15,000!  If you haven’t registered your child yet for our Color Walk, please do so at www.thegetmovincrew.com.  Just for registering, your child will receive an awesome lanyard!  Plus, with every $25 that your child raises, he/she can accumulate special emojis for the lanyard as well as awesome prizes!   We thank you for your support and generosity!

Getting our green on!

On September 22, our Palomino community joined with the TreePeople, Chatsworth Kiwanis, and Anytime Fitness to beautify our campus, plant three trees, and nurture our remaining trees.  It was an amazing day full of service and fun! Thank you to all who pitched in and got their green on!

Celebrating Constitution Day!

Our kids are college bound!

We love our boardmember!

On Monday, August 20, Chatsworth Park celebrated our new apparatus, thanks to our amazing Boardmember, Scott Schmerelson.  Mr. Schmerelson generously funded the entire project and we are truly thankful.  Our Palomino community is blessed by Mr. Schmerelson's support.  Hip hip hooray for Boardmember Schmerelson!

We're going magnet!

We are proud to share that Chatsworth Park Elementary will become an urban planning magnet for the school year 2019-2020.  We have an amazing curricular plan for students in kindergarten to fifth grade, and we are so proud of the work our team has done.  This is an incredible opportunity for our students, families, staff, future Palominos, and community.  Way to go, Chatsworth Park Urban Planning Magnet!

Character matters!

Mrs. Vanderheiden's third-grade class took to our Chatsworth Park stage and performed an amazing musical, "Character Matters."  Believe it or not, they performed three times to packed audiences!  And each performance was stellar!  Chatsworth Park definitely has talented students!  Special thanks to Mrs. Vanderheiden for her incredible director skills, the Rocha family for the beautiful backdrop and props (we're still using them year after year!), and our families who provided the creative costumes!

Congratulations 5th Grade!

Chatsworth Park fifth graders are off to great adventures in middle school!  Even though it will be hard to say goodbye at culmination, once a Palomino, always a Palomino.  We look forward to hearing about their continued success in middle school, high school, and beyond!

Tour with our amazing teachers!

Chatsworth Park's Open House was a spectacular event, where our students' hard work throughout the year shined!  Our Palomino staff and students were definitely the stars of Open House... And we are truly proud of all they accomplished in 2017-2018!  Way to go, Team Palomino!

Palominos love lego robotics!

Jumping for a cause

Thank you to all of our Palomino families and staff who contributed to the American Heart Association during our Jump Rope for the Heart event!  Amazingly, we raised over $3,100.00 for the cause!  Way to go, Team Palomino!

We're spreading kindness!

This week, Chatsworth Park is celebrating the Great Kindness Challenge! The Great Kindness Challenge is a proactive and positive bullying prevention initiative that improves school climate and increases student engagement. It’s one week devoted to performing as many acts of kindness as possible on campus. From our Great Kindness assembly to our “Kindness” trees to our “Kindness” checklists, we’re creating a culture of kindness at Chatsworth Park!  Our Palominos will show the world that KINDNESS MATTERS!

Defending our Earth!

On November 15, our students were treated to an educational assembly from the Environmental Defenders.  The Environmental Defenders Program educates and empowers K-6th grade students in Los Angeles County to protect our environment through the "Rock the Planet—You Can Change the World Tour." During the assembly, our Palominos were able to identify environmental problems and possible solutions kids can do themselves to reduce pollution.

Trunk O' Treat FUN!

THANK YOU to our wonderful PTA and Palomino families who contributed to our Trunk or Treat event on October 27.  Team Palomino truly united for a fun-filled night of trunks, treats, yummy food, festive music, and bouncing galore.  You are all truly appreciated, and we are blessed to have such fantastic families!   I’d also like to extend a BIG THANK YOU to our families who attended the grand event!  There were so many happy, smiling faces!

Red Ribbon Week Spirit

During the week of October 23, our Palominos celebrated Red Ribbon Week with a series of daily inspirational activities.  From funny mustaches and sunglasses to cool sneakers and favorite team apparel, our Palominos united against drugs and pledged to be drug-free!

Safety is our top priority!

On Wednesday, October 18, Chatsworth Park conducted the Great Shake-Out, which is an amazing exercise in how to be prepared for an emergency.  Not only were we able to see our strengths in carrying out regular drill activities, we also conducted a simulation of a few adults and pre-approved students who pretended to be injured during the exercise.  It was amazing to see our students and staff collaborating and problem-solving together, and our upper grade students demonstrating incredible leadership skills.  Way to go, Team Palomino!

our Palominos celebrate Chatsworth park south's grand reopening!

It's finally here!

Our new electronic marquee arrived and we are elated!  The previous marquee was truly special because it was dedicated to Chatsworth Park's former principal, Barbara Champion.  Even though we were sad to see it go, we know that Mrs. Champion would have loved the electronic marquee as well.  To carry on her legacy, we will be installing the original dedication plaque at the base of our new marquee.

Please join us for this year's Back to School Night on Tuesday, August 29, from 5:30-7:30 p.m.  There will be special presentations on our gifted program, safety protocols, language acquisition program, and special education at 5:30 p.m. Classroom presentations from our wonderful teachers will be held from 6:00-6:30 and 6:30-7:00 p.m.  Lastly, parents can attend the special presentation on the language acquisition program at 7:00 p.m., in case they missed the earlier one. There will also be a fifth grade parent meeting at 7:00 p.m.  Parents of our Palomino fifth graders are strongly encouraged to attend.  We look forward to seeing our Palomino parents on Tuesday, August 29, for Back to School Night!

PTA's Family Fun Night!

Family Music Night was a hit!

Teacher of the Year!

We're proud to say that Mrs. Stacy Anzini, one of Chatsworth Park's awesome teachers, was nominated for Teacher of the Year by the Encino Chamber of Commerce on April 20, 2017! Mrs. Anzini was honored due to her perseverance and dedication to providing the best learning experience for every child.  She has tailored her instruction to meet the needs of all of her students--English language learners, gifted, special education, and more.  Mrs. Anzini has also joined her neighboring teacher, Ms. Kelly Davis, to blend their classes and team-teach, which exposes students to different teaching styles and inspires them to support their fellow Palominos.  Chatsworth Park is truly blessed to have Stacy Anzini as a teacher! Congratulations, Mrs. Anzini!!  You are amazing!

Twin/Triplet Spirit Day!

Thank you to Mr. Schmerelson!

Our LAUSD Board Member Scott Schmerelson visited Chatsworth Park on Friday, April 7.  We are truly thankful for Mr. Schmerelson's support as he has provided new lunch tables, new auditorium wall-fold tables, and a lunch area wind screen. His latest gift will be arriving in the summertime....A brand-new apparatus for our main yard!  We can't wait for our Palominos to enjoy the new playground addition, and we are truly grateful for Mr. Schmerelson's support!

A visit from Denmark

On Tuesday, March 28, Chatsworth Park Elementary received a special visit from afar!  Three LEGO Education team members from Denmark visited Chatsworth Park to experience LEGO Robotics and elementary science in action.  Camilla Bottke, Louise Aagaard, and Mario Volkmann from LEGO Education were delighted to see students implementing LEGO Robotics and applying it to other content areas.  The LEGO team also visited the science lab to see elementary science come alive, using the new NGSS standards.  It was an exciting day at Chatsworth Park!

21st Century Learning

Lego Robotics have finally arrived at Chatsworth Park!  Our wonderful grade 3-5 teachers experienced quite a treat with a personalized training from Lego Education representatives!  With a little more studying and practice, Lego Robotics will soon be in the hands of every grade 3-5 Palomino!  These are exciting times at Chatsworth Park!

Be a buddy, not a bully

With the help of ventriloquist Christine Barger and Lowell Edward, our Palominos learned how to be kind and support one another.  This anti-bullying assembly was truly informative in a lively way!

Superhero Day!

Our Palominos celebrated Dr. Martin Luther King Junior's birthday with a Spirit Day this past Friday (January 13).  Since Dr. King was a true hero, we celebrated the heroes in our students' lives by dressing like superheroes!

Inspiring Future Authors!

On Tuesday, September 27, our Palominos were treated to a motivational assembly from two children's book authors:     Adam T. Newman and Joshua Hauke.  Not only did the authors share their witty stories with them, our students were inspired to give 100% to their own writing and let their creativity show!

Time to celebrate!

It's official!

Chatsworth Park has been recognized as a Gold Ribbon School for 2016! According to Tom Torlakson, the State Superintendent for Public Instruction, "The award reflects your school’s success in creating a positive learning atmosphere for your students. Such success is a direct result of your dedicated, creative, and talented staff, and your supportive school community." We are so proud of our Palomino staff, students, and families! It is quite an accomplishment for Chatsworth Park and we look forward to continuing to provide a high quality education for our 21st Century learners!

Closed Campus Policy

Beginning Tuesday, January 19, 2016, Chatsworth Park Elementary School, pursuant to district policy, will initiate a Closed Campus Policy. This means that during school hours, our campus is "closed," with all doors and gates locked.  This is to ensure the safety of our students.  All students should arrive between 7:30 a.m. and 8:00 a.m.  Please know that the gates will not open until 7:30 a.m.  School staff will be located at two gates—Devonshire Street and Hiawatha Street—to welcome your children and to supervise them on the playground between 7:30 a.m. and 8:00 a.m.  Since we will be a "closed campus," parents will no longer be able to accompany their children onto the yard or wait with them until the bell rings.  Click here for more information.
